PROGRAM PRISON HISTORY
Georgia Legislative HB1176 passed during the 2012 legislative session, which was a foundation for the implementation of several service strategies to include the Program Prison re-entry program
Program Prison was instituted in January 2013 as part of the effort to provide a more aggressive treatment approach for the growing prison population in Georgia through the use of a Specialized Re-Entry Program (SRP)
Riverbend Correctional Facility in Milledgeville, GA has been indentified as the facility to host program
Up to 80% of the population is enrolled in program and over 860 offenders meet the criteria for the program
MISSION
Provide programming to medium security offenders with multiple needs who are within 36 months of release from custody
Specialized re-entry focuses on programs to optimize offender speed through the system
PURPOSE
Specialized re-entry program developed to address multiple re-entry issues facing offenders who are being released from custody. These issues hinder successful transition back into society. Re-entry issues include: Employment Housing Family ties Stigma of being an ex-felon
Offender enrolled in multiple programs, including Cognitive Behavioral and Substance Abuse programs, to increase their contact with pro-social interventions
Release offenders with maximum Performance Incentive Credits (PIC) earned. PIC maximum credit earned is 12 months
Reduce jail backlog
SPECIALIZED RE-ENTRY CRITERIA
Next Generation Assessment/Bridge Assessment Case Plan/Texas Christian University Drug Screen (TCUDS) must be reviewed for accuracy and documented
PIC eligible offenders with multiple needs get priority placement in SRP
Multiple needs consist of two or more assessed programming needs to include; cognitive, substance abuse, education and vocational
Completion of Motivation for Change (M4C) prior to referral
Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) performed; offender must be able to read at an 8th grade level
Positive disciplinary record; no disciplinary reports for the past six months.
GED or High School diploma Need to be within 36 months of earliest release Medical/Physical/Mental Health capabilities

Thinking for a Change (T4C) Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) Matrix Program Early Recovery Skills (ERS) Matrix Relapse Prevention (RP) Literacy Remedial Reading (LRR) Adult Basic Education (ABE) GED Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) Business and Customer Service Sex Offender Psycho-Educational Program (SOPP) Re-Entry Skills Building Motivation for Change (M4C)
SCHEDULE
Up to three classes per day depending on assessment treatment plan
Substance Abuse classes occur over a 4 to 32 week period of intervention
Cognitive Behavioral groups occur over a 3 to 4 month period
