Walking a long the lake shore and nature trail, visitors may see camivorous pitcher pla nts, the shy gopher tortoise, oak varieties, saw palmettos, yellow bellied flickers, warblers and great blue herons. The park's lake and swimming pool offer opportunities for swimming, boating and fish ing This is o ne of the few state parks named after a woman, and its name is richly deserved. Laura Walker was a Geor:gia wri ter, teacher, civic leader and naturalist who was a great lover of trees and worked for their preservation
