On the Cover: Tom Hunt of Lithonia with a 12-point buck that grossed 160 6/8 Boone & Crockett points. Managing for quality deer is a growing trend among Georgia hunters. This magnificent buck was taken last November 6 on a hunting club in Talbot County called Trophy Management Inc. Conservation Club, where the emphasis is on maintaining a quality deer herd and quality wildlife habitat. An article in the September issue of Georgia Outdoor News details how this club developed a successful management plan. For advice on deer herd management contact a Wildlife Resources Division wildlife biologist.

BIGGER IS BETTER
In Bucks... And In Big Buck Contests

GON's Truck-Buck Shoot-Out Continues To Grow! This Year There Are More Prizes (from 18 to 34) And More Check-in Stations (from s to 21).

Just as a trophy buck gets a little bigger each year, so too has GON's Truck Buck Shoot-Out grown a bit bigger and better each year since it began six years ago.
This year it is bigger because we have again added more prizes. GON will award 16 weekly second place prizes. Weekly winners win a McPherson bow during archery season and a Remington rifle during firearms season. This year, weekly runners-up will win an API deer stand. Last year GON awarded 18 prizes in ourTruckBuck Shoot-Out contest. This season we will award 34 prizes to GON subscribers.
Two years ago subscribers had to bring their buck to GON offices in Marietta to enter the Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. Last season GON established eight check-in stations around the state and that worked much better.
We have expanded again, increasing the number of check-in stations from eight to 21. GON and all of our subscribers owe a debt of Thanks to these check station operators. First to those original eight check-in stations who did a great job last season and are back with us again this year. And then to the 13 new check-in stations helping GON and making it much more convenient for you to enter a buck in the best deer contest in Georgia. Please remember that these check-in station people are volunteers. They don't get paid a dime for their help and they have their own business to operate. Treat them all like the good neighbors they are.
And finally, GON's Truck-Buck Shoot-Out is the largest deer contest in the state. GON is also the No. 1 outdoor publication in Georgia. Our subscribers have made us No. 1 and this contest is our way of saying thanks and giving something back. If you are a subscriber, we appreciate it. If you aren't a subscriber you should know that for less than the cost of a Big Mac a month you can receive the best outdoor publication in Georgia and be eligible to enter your buck in the TruckBuck Shoot-Out. Call 1-800-4384663 and GET GON Today!

SUMMIT TREESTANDS.
WE'LL GIVE YOU THE EDGE.
Every edge. You can stand virtually anywhere on a Summit stand and feel comfortable that your treestand is there for you. You'll appreciate our welded steel platform even more when you need to shoot behind the tree.
WE'VE GOT THE CORNERS ON THE MARKET. Our stands are designed
to be used. What we mean by this is you don't have to limit yourself to standing only on the middle of the treestand. You can concentrate on your shot and our unique method of "capturing" the tree will become evident.
You'LL SEE RIGHT THROUGH us.
At least we hope you do. Look up into a tree in your backyard and you probably won't see any solid objects...just tree branches. That's what a deer should see, too. Just branches. This natural camouflage of a Summit stand, when combined with our multi-color, nonglare camo paint, will help you be successful.
JUST LOOK WHAT YOU'VE BEEN MISSING. Welded steel for security and
silent operation. An offset platform design that gives you more room out where you need it.. .on the end of the platform. A comfortable seat with height adjustments for different sized hunters. And a price that even beginning deer hunters can afford. Isn't it time you hunted from a SUMMIT?
