Vonda Lyons, a single mother of two sons and a TANF recipient, sought VR services because she had a desperate desire to work. VR provided Ms. Lyons with supported employment services through Primus Industries, where she was assigned to the clean--up crew. Because of Vonda's outstanding work performance, she was promoted to a supervisor to train other crew members.
Vonda also received job training services through Goodwill Industries of South Georgia and now works at the local Marine Base. All reports from her supervisor have been glowing. Vonda is an excellent employee and is proud to be working. She periodically calls her VR work team to share how well she is doing.

Billie Wills, a 36 year old mother of one child, came to YR because she wanted a better life. Due to spina bifida, Billie has had multiple surgeries and health problems. Her YR work team, including her YR counselor, work preparation technician, and account representative, provided assist-ance with job readiness and job placement.
Billie was referred to several employment opportunities before the right job match was made.
Billie is currently employed as a 411 Call Center Operator with BellSouth in Columbus. Her employer immediately made some structural changes to the entrance of the work site to ensure that Billie had easy access. Reports from BellSouth indicate that Billie is an excellent employee. She continues to live in rural Talbotton and is more than willing to make the commute for her career with BellSouth.

Mamie Westley has learning and reading disabilities that have resulted in her spending a lifetime with self-doubt and low self-esteem. With counseling, guidance, and strong encouragement from both her YR counselor and Marty Hegler of Augusta Technical College, Mamie enrolled in and completed the Cosmetology and Nail Technician programs at Augusta Tech.
Mamie has established a business relationship with a well known cosmetologist in the Augusta area and works in his salon. She is using this opportunity to establish her own customer base, which will ultimately lead to starting her own business.

Vicky Stewart is paralyzed as a result of a riding accident in a rodeo competition. As she puts it, "Independence is a very important part of my life, along with working and earning my own way."
VR helped to coordinate Vicky's physical and occupational therapy, and assisted with job placement services. A Rehabilitation Technologist assessed Vicky's needs for a van lift and helped to secure one, and also provided specific information on how to better negotiate her work and home environments.
With YR' s assistance, Vicky returned to work as a Customer Service/Sales Representative at Landstar Ranger. She states, "I have a feeling of independence. I'm not as dependent on other people for my needs and I'm a productive citizen." Vicky has even ordered a new saddle to return to riding horses again.
