Workforce Statistics & Economic Research

Georgia's Top Jobs Grouped by Most Expected Annual Openings for 2012-2013

Georgia is expected to enter into another year of consecutive job growth during this projection period. The state's economy is moving more toward stabilization, as industries start to recover and contribute to economic growth. Over the next two years, we project approximately 41,000 new positions will be available to be filled each year. Additionally, almost 100,000 replacement job openings will arise from the need to replace workers who retire, transfer to other occupations, or leave the labor force permanently. During this period, job openings resulting from replacement needs will exceed those coming from growth in most occupations.
This brochure lists the jobs that will be in the most demand for 2012 and 2013. Each table shows the top jobs that will have the most annual openings by education level. Annual openings are separated by those resulting from growth (new positions), and those resulting from replacements. Annual wages from the 2012 Georgia Wage Survey are shown for each occupation (when criteria for disclosure are met).
"Green" jobs are highlighted with the Green symbol, and represent jobs based on clean energy, improved energy efficiency, and a sustainable environment.
