These fast-growing occupations will have better employment prospects than occupations with slow or declining employment. Also, conditions will be more favorable for mobility and advancement.
Nine of the fastest growing occupations are found in the healthcare.
Four have received the Hot label on a statewide basis for the
projections period.

This area consists of the seven counties in metropolitan Atlanta not in separate WIA areas and includes the following counties: Cherokee, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale.

Total Industry Growth
Total employment in WIA Area #7 is expected to grow from almost 700,000 jobs in 2008 to more than 883,000 by the year 2018, which equates to approximately 18,000 new jobs added each year. This area is home to the world's busiest airport, the headquarters for a major airline, a major retail distribution center, several regional medical centers, and a state university. Key industries are air transportation, health services, education services, insurance services, truck transportation, computer and electronic product manufacturing, and telecommunications.

These 15 occupations out of more than 700 - are projected add to more than 63,000 jobs over the next 10 years, over 30 percent of all projected job growth in this area.
Eight occupations require short-term on-the-job training (one month or less) and three require a college degree.
