We request your assistance in sharing course information with all technical/career personnel and other interested employees in your system. To assist you, we have also enclosed a course listing which may be easily photocopied and distributed. Interested persons are encouraged to register early by completing registration forms and mailing to the GVSDC, Post Office Box 347095, Atlanta, Georgia 30334, or faxing to (404) 657-7646.

The Georgia Vocational Staff Development Consortium is an organization of member school systems in the state of Georgia. The purpose of the consortium is to provide approved statewide staff development opportunities for technology/career educators. All local units of administration (LUAs) in the state are eligible to participate in the activities of the consortium.
Each year, the consortium's advisory board publishes a catalogue of statewide staff development courses. These courses are offered to members on a first-come, first-serve basis at no charge for the cost of instruction. Travel expenses, lodging, materials and college tuition for college credit courses are at the expense of the participant or the participant's school system.
BOARD OF ADVISORS The Board of Advisors is comprised of the following members: two local superintendents (may include an assistant superintendent); two Department of Education (Technology/Career) staff members; one local staff development coordinator; one local vocational director; three local vocational supervisors; three vocational education teachers (may include one Regional Education Services Agency vocational consultant). The subject area teachers rotate as follows: Special Needs, Technical and Industrial, Business Education, Agriculture, Family and Consumer Sciences, Technology Education, Marketing and Program of Exploration and Career Education/Career Connection. Permanent members of the Board are the fiscal agency representative, the state director of staff development, state staff development consultant and the state coordinator of technology/career education staff development. Members are selected on the basis of their interest and involvement with the program and the objectives of the Georgia Vocational Staff Development Consortium. New members are approved by a majority vote of the Board. Members will serve a two or threeyear term, to be decided by the new member at the time of appointment. Membership terms begin on July 1. The Board of Advisors holds quarterly meetings at a place, time and date announced by the Chairperson.

The Georgia INtegrated TECHnology Professional Development Framework
The Georgia Department of Education Regional Educational Technology Training Centers are pleased to announce the on-going development of a Georgia INtegrated TECHnology Professional Development Framework document that outlines goals, objectives and performance indicators for integrating uses of technology tools and resources in the K-12 curriculum. The Framework has been developed after a thorough inspection of research and literature on effective technology professional development practices. The technology skills are built on standards developed for ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and adopted by NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teachers of Education). Georgia's Quality Core Curriculum is the basis for all technology-connected lessons and lesson planning activities. The Framework includes three Modules: Classroom Technology, Technology Support and Administrative Technology. It is also based on two successful training models developed, implemented and evaluated by DOE Regional Educational Technology Training Centers (ETTC's).
The Classroom Technology Module Phase I InTech is an highly structured, 100 hour, DOE Staff Development Program. InTech provides many examples of effective technology-based strategies that support and enhance curriculum and can provide a catalyst for fundamental change in overall teaching and learning processes. One of the strengths of the program is peer-instructor modeling of technology-connected lessons. Developing skills in "Five Critical Areas" characterize this integrated training approach: (1) modern technology skills, (2) classroom management techniques, (3) new designs for learning, (4) best pedagogical practices and (5) curriculum standards. InTech teams of teachers learn basic technology skills while focusing on project-based activities that use Georgia's Quality Core Curriculum. Every school in Georgia has been invited to complete a DOE application for the intensive twelve-day InTech program. Initial training is a five-day period with two follow-up days. After planning and implementing technology-connected lessons in their own classrooms, each school team returns for five days of additional training lncludinq materials that enable them to become the redelivery model teachers for their peers. DOE and DOE Regional ETTC's will coordinate the on-going training of trainers and the publishing of technologyconnected lesson plans. Support for this training will make extensive use of the Georgia distance education networks, Peachnet, PeachStar and GSAMS.
The Classroom Technology Module Phases II and III Innovation and tnfuston- provide a broad "menu" of five to fifteen-hour training sessions with in-depth curriculum and technology skill training for educators' to develop selected areas of expertise. Training sessions continue to emphasize the development of skills in the in "Five Critical Areas", while focusing on school improvement.
The Technology Support Module and the Administrative Technology Module provide specific skills training using applications for productivity, reporting, student information and school budgets, LAN and WAN management, as well as intensive training with Classroom Technology Module objectives and tools for evaluating the uses of technology in K-12 classrooms.
