WELCOME
2012 GEORGIA LOGISTICS SUMMIT
We are pleased that you have joined us today for the largest and most collaborative event of its kind for Georgia's logistics industry and beyond. This year, we are also proud to be collocated alongside the inaugural MODEX trade show in its permanent home here in Atlanta, along with numerous other events showcasing the Supply Chain and Logistics industry.
This is the fourth annual Georgia Logistics Summit and it certainly would not happen without the partners and sponsors who support this event. We want to thank our industry association partners who have worked with us to spread the word and interconnect the "logistics ecosystem" throughout Georgia. We are also honored and excited to once again introduce you to our new public-private partnership Growth Champions. These are selected companies and organizations who have committed to partner with us at the Summit as well as throughout the year in support of our mission to "fuel the competitiveness" of logistics companies throughout Georgia. Finally, we wish to thank our 2012 solution provider sponsors and encourage you to stop by their booths and become familiar with their services.
The theme of this year's Summit is "Sustainable Competitiveness." As the global economy continues to experience a "new normal" of slow growth, it is important for companies to consider ways they can create a competitive edge and a distinctive service offering for their customers. By participating in this Summit, you will get many opportunities to interact with logistics and logistics-enabled companies and learn 1) what is being successfully done in logistics to sustain their competitive position in the market; and 2) what are the topics and trends that may jeopardize a competitive position. Again, the goal is to provide you the chance to hear directly from a wide range of industry experts offering a valuable first-hand logistical perspective on selected growth markets in the areas of: Automotive Production, Durable Goods, Food & Beverage, Intermodal Freight, Out-of-Gauge Freight and Retail Products. Titled as "Opportunity Sessions", these interactive discussions will explore the needs, requirements, challenges, and opportunities each of these growing markets uniquely presents.
Following that same theme, our featured keynote and guest speakers will address topics such as sustaining the health of the logistics ecosystem, a maritime logistics outlook for 2012-2020 and emerging world markets for the countries of Brazil, Mexico and Turkey. Armed with these key insights and information, you will leave the summit with a better understanding of the ways you can position your company to better sustain your competitive advantage in the market.
On behalf of the team here at the Center of Innovation for Logistics, we look forward to working with each of you during this exciting year ahead to connect, compete and grow!
