Key Public Health Issues
Victims are often blamed for the violent act perpetrated against them. This prevents many victims from reporting the crime and getting the help they need
There are a shortage of services for victims of sexual assault and rape, particularly in southern Georgia. There are very few effective rehabilitation programs for offenders and even those who are convicted may
re-offend after release from prison or probation
Public Health Actions
The Georgia Department of Human Resources funds 21 sexual assault programs statewide and trains law enforcement and medical staff to recognize victims of sexual harassment.
