Honorable Roy E. Barnes, Governor Members ofthe General Assembly Members of the State Board of Education
and Superintendent and Members of the Quitman County Board ofEducation
INDEPENDENT AUDITOR'S REPORT ON SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION SCHEDULE OF SALARIES AND TRAVEL
Ladies and Gentlemen:
We have audited the general pmpose financial statements of the Quitman County Board of Education, as of and for the year ended June 30, 1998, and have issued our report thereon dated February 18, 1999, under separate cover. That report was qualified for various departures from generally accepted accounting principles, as identified in the auditor's report on the general pmpose financial statements. Those financial statements are the responsibility ofthe Board's management. Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these general pmpose financial statements based on our audit.
We conducted our audit in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and the standards applicable to financial audits contained in Government Auditing Standards, issued by the Comptroller General of the United States. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement. An audit includes examining, on a test basis, evidence supporting the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements. An audit also includes assessing the accounting principles used and significant estimates made by management, as well as evaluating the overall financial statement presentation. We believe that our audit provides a reasonable basis for our opinion.
Our audit was performed for the pmpose of forming an opinion on the general pmpose financial statements taken as a whole. The Schedule of Salaries and Travel included in this separately issued document is presented for pmposes of additional analysis and is not a required part of the general pmpose financial statements of the Quitman County Board of Education. The Schedule of Salaries and Travel has been subjected to the auditing procedures applied in the audit of the general pmpose financial statements and in our opinion, is fairly presented in all material respects in relation to the general pmpose financial statements taken as a whole and should be read in conjunction with those statements.
98ARL-50A

This schedule is intended for the information ofthe management ofthe Quitman County Board ofEducation. This restriction is not intended to limit the distribution of this report which is a matter of public record.
Respectfully submitted,
~w.4
