January, 1964
Dear Friends, Market Personnel and Patrons of our State Markets:
Your State Farmers' Markets mean much to the area in which they are located.... they are a source of income to the citizens of Georgia....they bring the buyers to you....they are provided with the necessary equipment for wholesale dealers to carry on transactions and for farmers to sell their produce to the best advantage....during peak seasons, teletype machines are furnished each assembly market so that supply and price information can be available at all times....when you need assistance with your produce problems, your Market Manager is always there.
Total sales of $94,410,217.79 in 1963 surpassed all previous sales in the history of our Farmers' Markets. The continued increase in sales is the direct result of your loyal patronage, cooperation and enthusiastic support.
Much credit is due to an expanded advertising program, backed by the Atlanta Produce Dealers' Association and the Commodities Commissions to the farmer-producer's enthusiastic labeling/grading efforts, and to the valued assistance of the Extension Services. More credit should go to those who also serve - the loyal market personnel.
I extend a cordial invitation to produce buyers and other interested people everywhere to inspect our fine markets and to patronize the dealers, brokers and farmers.
Yours truly,
PHIL CAMPBELL
