January 1963

Dear Friends Market Personnel and
Patrons of our State Markets
As Georgias Commissioner of Agriculture one of my most
rewarding duties each year is to present to you the Annual Sales
Report of the Georgia State Farmers Markets
Nineteen hundred sixtytwo was a year for new ideas new
and unprecedented progress and new record high sales on our state
farmers markets Despite reoccuring adverse weather conditions
gross sales amounted to better than 93000000 New areas for
produce sales were explored grading and packaging processes were
improved and the expanded use of teletype facilitated the movement
of produce on the markets
I would like to express my appreciation for the cooperation
and enthusiastic support of the producer members of the seven agri
cultural commodity commissions to the Extension Service to our
market personnel and to the other related groups who gave their
support to the continued progress and services of the markets
To all of our friends and patrons we invite your criticisms
and suggestions as to how we can make 19 63 an even bigger and
better year for Georgias State Farmers Markets We also invite your
continued trade on our markets and urge that you learn more about the
services they are prepared to offer you and all the people of Georgia
Yours truly
u
