The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for providing the information backbone used by the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) to manage its business and safeguard the public. OIT uses the most effective technology available to create an integrated information framework that minimizes the effort of data collection and provides quick, accurate, and secure information to GDC staff, other law enforcement agencies, the courts, and the citizens of Georgia.

OVERVIEW
Responsible for the oversight, development and evolution to include internal-facing / external-facing applications and services.
Provide a technology architecture that is continually evolving to the needs of the agency utilizing best of breed technologies. Use of commercial and open-source solutions to effectively serve the needs of the agency and the taxpayers of Georgia.
Mission Provide an information systems infrastructure using proven technology to provide functionality in meeting the business needs of the agency, and ensuring the quality, reliability, and security of the agency's information technology systems. Vision Employees and stakeholders will have immediate access to the information they need for conducting business, providing timely service, comprehensive decision support, or any other purpose - available to them at any time, any place, and in a usable format. ________________________________________________
OIT Administration
Manages and tracks badge issuance, budget tracking, credit card reconciliation, sundown count reporting, offender and officer inventory management and reservations for conference rooms at State Offices South Training Center and #7 MLK Atlanta Office.
Creates Weekly OIT-GDC report and Priority Projects list for CAPTIVA.
Updates Annual OIT Fact Sheet for all sites. Maintains office employee contacts listing. Manages and tracks adverse employee actions, contact by
local, state and federal government officials, elective representative and other individuals pertaining to an offender.
Human Resources
Manages and tracks adverse employee actions; the review and update of basic employee demographic information, position imaging and the creation of employee identification and locator cards.
Produce and monitor vacancy reports. Monitors employee time and attendance. Tracks employee training for Pre - Service Orientation,
In-Service and Performance Support.

OIT Business Office
Coordinates the Agencies IT Budget, Cost Projections, Funding and Financial Strategies.
Processes Agency IT Contracts, Purchases and A/P activities.
Prorate Project work across GDC Program budgets Manages the Agencies GTA Assets. Processes GTA invoices, Charge-backs and Disputes. Compiles State Technology Annual Report Register
(STARR) data and submits annually.
Data Management
Provides Legislators and Government agencies the Data by which to write and evaluate laws.
Provides Data for assessing the effectiveness of GDC's strategy and programs to operate safe and secure facilities and to train their officers.
Provides Data to GDC's Legal Department and the Attorney General Office.
Supports Department of Corrections strategy of effective communication through the Public Website for the public and research.
Conducts detailed data mining and analysis for federal, state and local levels of government on incarcerated populations in the Department of Corrections.
Performs detailed data mining and analysis for civil liberty organizations to assure the public a secure and safe facility.
Provides raw and formatted data to external vendors for analysis and population projection.
Enterprise Application Development
SCRIBE Enterprise Application Management. 610 Active Batch jobs (scheduling and processing) Application support 7, 062 users, 77 modules. Financial bank transfers and outside agency interface. Champion new initiatives and lead the deployment effort. Setup user access to the various SCRIBE applications.

Facility Support
Used to access offender (inmates and probationers) management applications through admissions, classification, assignments, transfers and releases. Next Generation Assessment (NGA) automated assessment of offender risk, needs, and responsively that: Produces a series of matrices that combine risk and need into a single score; is linked to available programs and capacity; feeds directly into offender case plans, uses institutional data (GDC, GCI and Parole), creates increased efficiencies, provides for greater consistency and standardized assessment information; and reduces staff time.
External Interfaces
Interfacing with Georgia Bureau of Investigations
Parole (PAP), Department of Community Supervision (DCS), Department of Driver Services (DDS), Department of Revenue (DOR), Georgia Secretary of State, and the public website of GDC by hosting and consuming web services.
E-Sentencing Portal.
Mobile Technology - GDC on the GO
An Enterprise Mobile platform developed by the GDC Office of Information Technology. GDC on the Go helps extend GDC business to mobile devices. A hybrid application platform where it can run on both Apple and Android platforms and any device using these platforms. Helps users to be mobile and complete their day-to-day job duties more efficiently and effectively. OIT has developed a groundbreaking technology which provides offline capability for GDC users where they can work even though there is no connectivity.

Information Security Services
Development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an information security program that includes policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines designed to protect enterprise communications, systems, and assets from both internal and external threats.
Establishment, documentation, and maintenance of an information security incident management capability that provides for prevention, monitoring, detection, containment, response, recovery, reporting and escalation appropriate to the level of risk and threats to GDC.
Regulatory compliance with CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System), HIPAA (Healthcare Information Portability and Accountability Act) and all other relevant laws, policies, and regulations.
Strategic, tactical, and operational planning and execution of Enterprise information technology.
Research and development of new technologies.
Establishment and documentation of master image standards (desktops, laptops, etc.).

Office of Professional Standards (OPS) Intra Agency Liaison
The OPS Intra Agency Liaison facilitates the successful completion of OPS technology projects by assuming the role of project manager.
As an embedded member of the OIT Team, the OPS Intra Agency Liaison insures that OPS business requirements are addressed concerning OIT, Facility and Engineering technology projects.
Conducts research, participates in the pilot, implementation and adoption phases of new technologies to enable OPS to increase their efficiencies and boost productivity in the areas of investigations and intelligence.
Work on implementation of OPS Case Management System and CCTV assessment of GCI facilities
Training for technology within OPS. Compile Strategic Report for CCTV in Facilities.
Legal Case Tracking Manages vast number of legal cases.

System Architect Services
Projects Wiring & Cabling (GETS) Request for Solution (RFS) Infrastructure/Managed Network Services (MNS) for 150 sites.
Research and recommend framework, platform or tech-stack solutions for Agency Business Mission projects.

GoToMyPC and GoToMeeting Support and Administration.

Manages and tracks statistical and detail reports pertaining to offenders, as well as incidents and emergency information and sundown counts reported by GDC facilities.

Research, evaluate and test new technologies
GDC.GA.GOV It is one of the busiest websites hosted by a state agency
formation, facility location, voucher payments and more. Provide resources for the public, law enforcement and
family members of incarcerated offenders. Resources such as offender records and contact
information, facility location, voucher payments and more.

To continue the implementation of the statewide initiative by the Governor's Office of Customer Service to improve e-government in Georgia, we:
Upgraded website to 508 compliance standards and usability for mobile and tablet usage, which accounts for 37% of all site visits.
Published library of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for public access.
Upgraded Facilities Map to include County Correctional Institutions, Private Prisons, Probation Detention Centers, and RSAT Centers.
Enhanced user experience with a clean, user-friendly layout and reorganized navigation to coincide with user needs versus the agency's organization.
Tested functionality of the site across all major desktop and mobile browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera). Site Statistics:
During FY 2018 (July 1, 2017 June 30, 2018) 1,811,713 unique visitors ; 13.18% increase from previous FY.
31% of devices were desktops and 4% of them were tablet users.
65% of devices were from mobile users, an increase of 24.58% from previous FY.
GDCJOBS.COM Employment portal serves recruitment programs and
employee population. Affords the agency the ability to quickly and efficiently fill
vacant positions at minimal expense.
GDC Jobs Statistics During FY 2018 (July 1, 2017 June 30, 2018) 169,114 unique visitors ; 24.71% decrease from previous FY. 52% of devices were desktops and 5% of them were tablet
users. .43% of devices were from mobile users. It had an decrease
of 16% from previous FY.
CAPTIVA & SHAREPOINT Intranet portal provides access to web-based applications,
internal, external information resources and document storage.
