MISSION Supply the GDC with nutritional meals for offenders at the lowest possible cost to the state's taxpayers.
FACTS Part of Georgia Correctional Industries since January 2009 Responsible for feeding 44,000 inmates per day Produces 41% of the Department's annual food requirement Sells food items to 37 other state agencies and local governments 95 GCI positions and 24 GDC Correctional Officers
Food Services
OVERVIEW Master menu provides an average of 2,700 calories for males and 2,200 calories for female offenders Responsible for preparation and service of over 36,532,823 meals annually Medical diet menus are developed and administered for all facilities Supplies emergency support for all Department kitchens: three field kitchens, two food preparation trailers, two generators and one water tanker Specifies all food service equipment and provides Food Service Maintenance specialist to GDC for assistance with all Food Service Repairs Provides administrative oversight for contracted Food Service locations

ROGERS STATE PRISON FARM, Reidsville, GA 9,420 acres 29 GCI positions on farm, 5 GCI positions in cannery and 13 GDC Correctional Officers Beef Cattle: 1,200 head Brood Cow Operation Swine: 400 head Sow Farrow-to-Finish Vegetables: produces raw vegetables for canning, as well as, statewide distribution On-site feed mill operation with storage of 160,000 bushels of storage for farm grown commodities Dairy: milks 195 cows daily Canning plant: 12-month operation cans carrots, collards, Irish potatoes, kale, rutabagas, squash, sweet potatoes, and turnips Dairy processing plant: supplies 95% of the statewide milk needs and is one of the best cost savings investments in our Agency Saves more than $1.66 million annually compared to state contract prices Average delivered price less than $.16 per half-pint Additional support: Administration, feedmill and shop

Utilizes any idle farm land throughout the year to generate revenues to off-set the cost of operating, reducing the amount of appropriated funding needed to feed GDC's inmate population.
