Wardens
OVERVIEW 31 State Prison Wardens, 4 Private Prison Wardens and 23 County Prison Wardens (house state inmates) Appointing authority and highest ranking official inside all state, county and private prisons
Four Regions Statewide Northern Region: 6 State Prisons, 10 County Prisons and 2 Probation Detention Centers Central Region: 9 State Prisons, 5 County Prisons, 2 PDCs and 1 Residential Substance Abuse Treatement facilities Southwest Region: 7 State Prisons, 2 Private Prisons, 4 County Prisons, 3 PDCs and 3 RSATs Southeast Region: 9 State Prisons, 2 Private Prisons, 4 County Prisons and 2 PDCs
RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for day-to-day operations and management of the prison Responsible for security, care and treatment and administrative functions which include security, counseling (general population), mental health, chaplaincy, education, personnel, property control, vehicle management, food service, maintenance, accounting and vocational programs Supervise Deputy Warden of Security, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment and Deputy Warden of Administration Ensure all aspects of the facility are in compliance with all standard and local operating procedures in preparation for annual basic or comprehensive audits by DOC audit team Provide supervision to Superintendents at six RSATs, 13 Transitional Centers and nine PDCs Provide direction and supervision to all institutional staff and all personnel and administrative functions Monitor custody and security of facility and inmates Oversee institutional disciplinary process Provide direction for the mental health unit Ensure periodic review of all emergency plans and security procedures Conduct frequent staff meetings to disseminate pertinent information and receive feedback from staff Provide prompt response to complaints from inmate family/ friends

Superintendents

RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for all aspects of the individual day-to-day office operations and administrative duties Supervise administration, security and care and treatment staff. Ensure all staff are operating in accordance with standard and local operating procedures Responsible for maintaining facility standards Monitor and guide staff in problem solving Direct and personally monitor facility security functions and activities to maintain the custody and security of offenders Identify training needs and provide guidance to correctional staff Interview, hire, direct, train, evaluate performance, discipline and discharge corrections employees Manage the operations and activities of correctional facilities and detention centers Monitor, inspect and evaluate operations, program, service, activities and conditions Oversee and conduct inspections, searches, investigations and evaluations Perform crisis response, containment and intervention in emergencies

RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for all aspects of the individual day-to-day office operations and for operational and administrative duties. Supervise one or more Probation Officer Supervisors (POIII and Office Managers) Ensure all offices are operating in accordance with standard and local operating procedures Serve on special projects to meet the mission and vision of DOC, Corrections Division and Probation Operations Ensure orders of the Court are enforced Coordinate and provide quality probation services to the courts, probationers and the community Conduct performance appraisals on supervisory personnel Ensure adequate number of personnel is assigned to court intake at plea sessions, trials, preliminary and other hearings. Ensure probation violators are returned to court for preliminary hearings Review violations, make appropriate recommendations to the court for final dispositions and review collection and disbursement of court ordered monies Review all probation fee hardship exemptions Monitor case assessments, referrals to community resource agencies and individual counseling sessions to ensure that probation officers are assisting probationers to become law abiding, productive citizens. Thoroughly develop and implement local procedures as needed for processing all case materials Receive complaints from the public Investigate as necessary and adequately resolve problems in a timely manner Appropriately refer problems to the Regional Director Review motor vehicle maintenance reports; schedules repairs as needed or requests authorization for repairs from region office.

Probation Officer Sentencing Specialists
DUTIES Serve as liaison between the Department and the Courts, keeping all parties abreast of matters pertaining to the corrections system and any changes in policy/procedures Knowledgeable about all alternative programs offered within the DOC and outside resources available within the community Develop rapport and trust with the Judges, District Attorneys, Private Attorneys, Public Defenders, Sheriff's office and all other stakeholders Responsible for the management of case load/work court on court service team
