Dave Baker, Chairman
Year Elected: 1994 Serves Through: 2000 Republican, Atlanta
The 1996 Chairman of the PSC serving his first term, Dave Baker is an attorney with both firm and private practice experience. Appointed by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) to serve on its Communications Committee, Baker was active in the drafting of the Georgia Telecommunications and Competition Development Act of 1995 and the Federal Telecommunications Act of 1996. He is also a member of the Georgia Center for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT), the Programming Advisory Board of public broadcasting affiliates WPBA TV 30 and WABE 90.1 FM, and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce Passenger Rail Task Force. Baker earned his J.D. from Washington & Lee University in 1987 and his B.A. in Political Science from Johns Hopkins University in 1984.
Bobby Baker
Year Elected: 1992 Serves Through: 1998 Republican, Tucker
The first Republican elected to a statewide constitutional office since Reconstruction, Bobby Baker is serving his first term with the PSC, which he chaired in 1994. An attorney formerly with the Southeastern Legal Foundation and in private practice, Baker is a past ViceChairm'1ln of the Gwinnett County Planning Commission, a graduate of Leadership Gwinnett and a member of the Peachtree-Atlanta Kiwanis Club. He also serves on the executive committee for the Southeastern Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, and the Board of Directors of GCATT (Georgia Center for Advanced Telecommunications Technology). One of Georgia Trend's 100 most influential people in the state in 1994-95, Baker was awarded his J.D. from the University of Georgia in 1983 and his B.A. with honors in History and Political Science from Oglethorpe University in 1979. He is the current chairman of the Energy Committee.
Mac Barber
Year Elected: 1990 Serves Through: J996 Democrat, Commerce
Mac Barber is currently serving his third term on the PSC, and has also served twice as its Chairman and Vice Chairman. The former mayor of Commerce and veteran member of the Georgia House of Representatives, Barber is the only PSC Commissioner ever recognized by the Legislature for his efforts to protect consumer rights. A past president of the Georgia School Boards Association, Barber has chaired numerous committees, among them the House Standing Committee on Education, the Georgia Committee on Children and Youth, the Georgia Educational Improvement Council, the Commerce City Board of Education and the Long Range Planning Committee for the University System of Georgia. He has been consistently honored on behalf of his advocacy for children and youth, the elderly and the poor from such organizations as the Georgia Association of Educators, the Georgia Science and Technology Commission, Emory's Kappa Phi Kappa Literary Society, the VFW and the National Association of Retired People. Barber chairs the Policy Development and Intergovernmental Affairs Committee.

Bob Durden
Year Elected: 1990 Serves Through: /996 Republican, Grayson
A native Georgian and graduate of Statesboro High School, Bob Durden was elected to the Commission in 1990 with over 80% of the vote in his first statewide race. He served as its Chairman in 1991, 1992 and again in 1995. An attorney in private practice from 1979-1990 specializing in civil litigation, Durden is a former educator, having served on the Emory University faculty from 1973-1976 where he taught courses in American Government, Economics and International Relations. He has also taught at Mercer University and DeKalb College. A former Marine, Durden was honored with the 1976 Spokesman Award in recognition of his contribution to education at Emory. Tapped for membership in Mensa and for inclusion in the International Who's Who in Education, he was also named to International Men of Achievement, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in American Law.
Durden received his J.D. from Emory University
in 1979 and holds a B.A. in History and an M.A. in Political Science from the same institution. Durden chairs the Transportation Committee.
Stan Wise
Year Elected: /994 Serves Through: 2000 Republican, Cobb County
Currently in his first term on the PSC, Stan Wise is a seasoned businessman who operated his own insurance business for the past twenty years. He was first elected to public office as a Cobb County Commissioner in 1990, and had previously served that county as a member of the Cobb County Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals. Wise was appointed as a Board Member of the ten-county Atlanta Regional Commission, and served from 19921994. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Cobb YMCA, the Boys Club of Cobb County and the Advisory Board of the North Georgia Law Enforcement Academy. Most recently he has been appointed to serve on the Gas Committee of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. A former member of the Air Force Reserve, Wise was awarded his B.S. in Business Management from Charleston Southern University in 1974. He and his wife, Denise, have been married for 22 years and have two children - Adam, age 14, and Lindsay, 16. Wise, the Vice Chairman of the Commission, is also the current chair of the Communications Committee.
