REPORT.
To Hi.s Excellency, TV. .J. ~Vorthen, Brecutive Department,. Atlanta, Ga.:
GOVERNOR-I have the honor to state that Mr. Everard
DeRenne, recently deceased in the State of New York, be-
queathed to the State of Georgia a collection of books of
great value, among which is the transcript in manuscript
made, or procured to be made, by the father of the said
Everard DeRenne, from the original record in Englard of
the Colonial Acts of Georgia covering the period from 'fi5
to 1774, and ten copies in print of said O"iginal manuscn~t ;:
also, eleven copies of the Journal of the Board of Trustees.
for establishing the Cnlony of Georgia, and many other
rare books, pamphlets, etc. Mr. DeRenne requested that
this valuable collection be received by the State Library of
Georgia, and kept and designated as "The Mary DeRenne
Historical Collection." The bequest is indeed a valuable
one, upon which it is hard to put a proper estimate.
Upon receiving notice of this beqnest, your Excellency
decided, instead of going to the expense of sending the State
Librarian to ~ew York to receive these books, to ask Mr.
Marion J. Verdery, of ~ew York, to receive it for the
State of Georgia, and Mr. V erdery accepted this trust and
executed it without any charge to the State for his services.
The property was delivered to him in five boxes, just as
they had been packed before the death of the testator.

and
