Workforce Investment Act (WIA) WIA provides for a wide range of workforce and career services including funding for training and education, job placement assistance to adults, laid off workers, and youth. There are 20 local Workforce Investment Areas in Georgia, which includes over 45 WIA OneStop Centers and satellite offices. Jobs for Georgia Graduates Jobs for Georgia Graduates (JGG) is a school-to-work transition program designed to provide high school students with pre-employment training, work skills, motivational activities, and job development. JGG provides follow-up services to increase the graduation rate and encourage a successful transition from school to work. Georgia HERO Scholarship Program This program provides financial assistance for college to members of the Georgia National Guard and U.S. Military Reserves and their families. Job Corps Job Corps is a job training and education program for economically disadvantaged youth ages 16 through 24. Goodwill Industries Goodwill Industries provides employment, job training, and career services to people with disabilities, welfare recipients, and others who are trying to enter the workforce for the first time or get a better job. Salvation Army The Salvation Army provides services such as emergency assistance, food, housing, substance abuse programs, education, youth programs, programs for exoffenders, older adult programs, day care for children and adults. YouthBuild In YouthBuild programs, low-income young people ages 16-24 work toward their GED or high school diploma while learning job skills by building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people.
