Government and Business Together:
Meeting the Challenge and Making a Difference

Do you have a vested interest in the economic well-being of your community? If so, employer committees provide a unique opportunity for you to be actively involved in the local employment picture.

What is an Employer Committee?
An employer committee is a group of local business representatives who establish and maintain a working relationship between the Georgia Department of Labor and the employer community. This partnership involves: Acting as a sounding board for
proposed and ongoing department policies, procedures and programs. Identifying and recommending ways to meet community employment related needs. Furthering employer awareness of the Department. Providing assistance to the department's local Career Centers.

Why have Employer Committees?
The Georgia Department of Labor is primarily funded by employer tax dollars to provide an efficient labor exchange service and to operate employment services and the unemployment insurance system. Additionally, it has legislatively mandated employment and training related functions. A strong partnership between government and business means a better return on your tax dollars.

Why join?
The payoff is: You will have an opportunity to
share ideas and concerns with others. You will enhance your company's
awareness of important employment issues and their impact on business operations. You can help educate the employer community on important employment issues and legislation that affects the way we all do business. You will help your community identify and meet its employment needs. You can obtain a better understanding of the department's local career centers and can use that knowledge to save your company time and money. You will develop a network of contacts.

Who understands the needs and concerns of a community better than its business leaders?
