OVERALL TAPS SUMMATIVE RATING
Each teacher's TEM rating is determined by combininghis/her TAPS and Student Growth ratings using the TEM matrix. A teacher locates the row with his/her Student Growth rating and the column with his/her TAPS rating, and the cell where they meet contains his/her final TEM rating.
For example, if a teacher receives an overall Student Growth rating of Level III and an overall TAPS Summative rating of Level II, the teacher's TEM rating would be Proficient.

Understanding Components of the
Teacher E ectiveness Measure
THE TEACHER EFFECTIVENESS MEASURE ( TEM )
The TEM consists of two components:
1 Teacher Assessment on Performance Standards (TAPS), and 2 Student Growth (SLOs/SGPs).
These two components contribute to the overall Teacher E ectiveness Measure (TEM) for each teacher.
TEM Rating: Exemplary,Proficient,NeedsDevelopmentI,ne ective
Both SLOs and SGPs : When a teacher has both SLO and SGP students, a weightedaverage of the teacher's SLO and SGP ratings will be calculated using the number of SLO and SGP student results in order to determine the teacher's overall Student Growth score. This average will be roundedaccording to standard roundingrules.
1 TEACHER ASSESSMENT ON
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS ( TAPS )
The TAPS componentprovides evaluators with a qualitative, rubrics-based evaluation method by which they can measure teacher performance related to ten quality performance standards.
Summative scores are calculated by adding the values (0-3) for each of the ten performance standards.

2 STUDENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES
(SLOs )
The measure of student growth for non-state assessed courses is the Student Learning Objective.
The aggregatemeasure of SLO performance for all non-state assessed courses taught by a teacher will be used in calculating the TEM. (A teacher receives the highest rating for which he or she meets the criteria.)

2 STUDENT GROWTH PERCENTILE
(SGPs )
The measure of student growth for core state-assessed courses is the Student Growth Percentile.
A growth percentile can range from 1to 99. The mean Student Growth Percentile ( MeanGP ) for all students in state-assessed courses taught by a teacher will be used in calculating the TEM.
