INTRODUCTION
Georgia Population by Districts, 1970 and 1980 presents population data from the Decennial Censuses of 1970 and 1980, arranged by several of the most commonly used political, administrative, and socio-geographic districts into which Georgia is divided. In addition, 1970 and 1980 populations for Georgia's 159 counties are shown.
The report is intended as a basic reference and an aid for use in statistical compilations and comparisons at substate geographical levels.
Each district configuration includes a map of the districts and a table depicting 1970 and 1980 population, numerical and percentage change, and percentage of State total population for both years.
The basic source for obtaining district delineations was An Atlas of Multi-County Organizational Units in Georgia, Department of Georgraphy, Institute of Community and Area Development, University of Georgia (Third Revision, 1979). District configurations subject to change since 1979 were verified by Department of Community Affairs staff with the respective agencies utilizing such districts for administrative or other purposes. Districts as shown in the report were accurate as of May, 1981.
