#Wendy Bedwell, project coordinator and instructional designer, Advanced Learning Technologies, received a master's degree in distance education from the University of Maryland on May 18.
Honors
#Jennifer Fairchild-Pierce, associate secretary to the Board of Regents, Office of the Chancellor, has received a Regents Study-Abroad Scholarship that will enable her to visit the United Kingdom from June 8 through June 21 to study comparative education, research and educational policy at several colleges and universities. Fairchild-Pierce is pursuing a doctorate in educational policy studies with a concentration in higher education at Georgia State University.
#Michael Miller, program manager, Facilities, was one of 100 campus facilities professionals invited to attend the first annual Campus Heritage Preservation Conference in Chicago in May. During the program, which was sponsored by the Getty Foundation and the University of Oregon, Miller led discussions on the historic resources and stewardship responsibilities of the University System of Georgia.

will contribute to the pomp and circumstance of the afternoon, including the presentation of the colors by the North Georgia College and State University Color Guard, the reading of a poem to commemorate the occasion by Poet Laureate David Bottoms, and renditions of "The Star Spangled Banner" by Georgia State student Dwight Coleman, and "My Soul is Anchored in the Lord" and "America the Beautiful" by the Albany State University Concert Chorale.
A reception will follow the ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Ramachandran's planning committee included: Sandy D'Angelo, J. Dorsey, La Toya Handsford, Arlethia PerryJohnson, John Millsaps, Sylvia Smith and Judy Wilder, all of the University System Office, and Max Allen of Georgia College and State University, Gail Lester of UGA, Marilyn Somers of Georgia Tech, and Frances Stone and Erin Erskine of Georgia State.
A number of System institutions have provided in-kind services for the inauguration, including GC&SU, Georgia Tech, Atlanta Metropolitan, UGA and Valdosta State University.
