DAVIS Named New USG Chancellor
Board of Regents Chairman J. Timothy Shelnut announced that Erroll B. Davis, Jr., chairman of Alliant Energy Corporation of Madison, Wis., has been named chancellor-designate of the
University System of Georgia. Davis will assume the chancellor's post on Feb. 6.

USG Enrollment: Seven Years of Record Growth
The latest University System of Georgia fall enrollment report shows a seventh consecutive year of growth in attendance at the state's public colleges and universities. Enrollment in the System grew by almost 3,000 students from fall 2004 to fall 2005. The total USG student headcount is now 253,552.

Gala to Honor Excellence
in University System
Outstanding University System of Georgia faculty and programs will be recognized during the USG Foundation's second "Celebration of Excellence in Education" event on Jan. 28 at the new Georgia Aquarium.
The evening also will highlight the accomplishments of the awardee chosen to receive the USG Foundation's "Elridge McMillan Lifetime Achievement Award," presented to an individual who has shown a lifetime of extraordinary service in support of higher education in Georgia.
AAMI Supports Programs for Black Males
Ten University System of Georgia institutions have been awarded grants from the Board of Regents' African American Male Initiative (AAMI) to implement programs aimed at preparing more Black males to attend and graduate from college.
The grants, ranging from $10,000-$30,000, mark the third and largest round of funding awarded under the nationally recognized AAMI program.

Shields received the Educational Leadership Award from the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund.
