Professional Staff Development Conference
A Day of Growth and Rejuvenation for USO Staff

The University System Office will have to get along without a number of its organizational support staff for just one day on Friday, Oct. 31. Approximately 50 people have registered to attend the 6th Annual Professional Staff Development Conference at Clayton State College & University on that date.
Conference attendees will trade deadlines, reports, e-mails, and a seemingly endless stream of pink telephone message slips for a relaxing yet invigorating day of presentations dedicated to personal and professional

development. The theme for this year's conference is "Learn... Grow... Share... Succeed!"
After a welcome and program overview by Conference Committee Co-chair Vernon Davis, Senior Vice Chancellor for Support Services Corlis Cummings will get the day started by talking about the past, present and future of the USO.
Next, participants will gain a heightened awareness of nonverbal communication and improve their ability to interpret the subtle and not-so-subtle

Also on the agenda is a presentation titled "Energy in Adversity," in which staff will get tips on how to remain centered and focus on their goals despite any conflict or adversity in the work place or at home.
Conference participants also will be treated to a program by the Performing Arts Program for Youth, Inc., an organization founded by Jane Fonda.
