GDC HOSTS JAIL-N-BAIL PROGRAM & MOTORCYCLE RIDE TO RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITIES
The State Charitable Contributions Program (SCCP) participated in the Jail-n-Bail event on Wednesday, October, 7th. For this event, employees had to donate five dollars to have a warrant issued for the arrest of a co-worker, manager, or Division Director. Those that were arrested had to raise bail of at least $50. Our charitable effort yielded $1,016 in just over two hours.
Last year, the Department raised $66,479.14 for the SCCP. This year, our goal this year is to raise $100,000. Numerous charities will benefit from our donations.
On October 17, 2009 GDC held the Inaugural Motorcycle Ride for Charity. This event took riders on a tour of Monroe County prior to arriving at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison for lunch, entertainment and door prizes.
Many thanks to the Georgia Sheriffs' Association Youth Home for donating so many of our door prizes. This event raised nearly $500 and plans are already underway for a motorcycle ride in the Spring.
