The S.S. Savannah caused a stir on May 22, I819 when it sailed from its namesakeport to become thefirst steamship to cross any ocean. Today,massive cargo vessels carrying goods from all corners of the globe arrive in the ports of Savannah and Brunswick to unload their cargoes and take on Georgia exportsfor worldwide consumption.
