Reasonably Priced High-Speed Internet You May Qualify!
ATLANTA, October 1, 2007 The Georgia Public Service Commission ("PSC") wishes to remind consumers that they may be eligible for a $10.00 per month DSL service.
On December 29, 2006, the Federal Communications Commission approved AT&T and BellSouth's request to merge. One of the conditions upon which the approval was granted was the Company's commitment to make available a DSL service at a speed of up to 768 kbps at a monthly rate of $10, exclusive of any applicable taxes, to NEW DSL customers only. You do not qualify for this offering if you have previously subscribed to AT&T's or BellSouth's DSL service. The $10 per month offer is valid through December 31, 2009.
AT&T has notified the PSC that this is an online offer available at www.att.com. To order the service, go to the residential internet section of AT&T's website, and click on `view internet plans'. On the next screen click in the box labeled `DSL at even a lower price!'. Customers who do not currently have any access to the internet can call 1-888-757-6500 for assistance. The $10 DSL service requires a 12-month commitment with a $50 early termination fee if the customer cancels the service. The early termination fee will be waived if the customer upgrades to a higher-speed DSL service. Qualified customers who choose the $10 DSL service will also be required to purchase their own modem, which is currently priced at $75.
The merger agreement also included a provision that AT&T/BellSouth would provide a DSL modem without charge, excluding shipping and handling, to residential subscribers who upgrade from AT&T or BellSouth dial-up Internet access service to DSL between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008 if they elect a term plan for 12 months or greater.
For additional information about the AT&T/BellSouth merger, contact the Federal Communications Commission at 1-800-225-5322 or online at www.fcc.gov.
