Commission Advises Consumers That No Fuel Surcharge Is Allowed For Household Movers, Limousines and Certain Passenger Carriers
Atlanta, January 5, 2007 The Georgia Public Service Commission is warning consumers to be aware that household goods movers, limousines, charter busses and passenger carriers who charge on a per passenger basis are not allowed to add a fuel surcharge to consumers' bills for moves or trips between two cities in Georgia. The Commission removed the fuel surcharge effective September 30, 2005. However, the Commission has received complaints from some consumers who say they have been charged the fuel surcharge after that date.
Consumers who believe they have been wrongly charged this fee should first seek reimbursement from the mover or passenger carrier before filing a complaint with the Commission. Consumers may contact the Commission by e-mail, fax, letter or telephone as listed below.
