Festive Holiday Celebrations
Celebrate this holiday season with colorful lights, creative crafts, hayrides, candlelit tours and more. State parks and historic sites have planned dozens of outings to help

Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation Historic Site's annual Christmas Tour is this Friday and Saturday. Walk along the candlelit path under centuries-old oaks and be treated to a guided tour of this historic home. Santa, living history enactors, musket and cannon firings, carols, hot wassail and cookies highlight the event. Brunswick Hardman Farm Historic Site's Victorian Christmas includes tour guides in period dress, live music, and s'mores. December 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17. SauteeNacoochee A.H. Stephens State Park's light display covers 10 acres and includes a campfire and refreshments. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings through Christmas. Crawfordville Hard Labor Creek State Park's holiday-themed wagon rides are followed by a warm campfire and hot cocoa. December 17 and 18. Rutledge Festive Fridays at Crooked River State Park let you make nature-themed crafts that will make any fireplace proud. Fridays in December. St Marys Join rangers at F.D. Roosevelt State Park to make elf nature crafts, take a paddle with Santa, or make holiday cards that will be delivered to a local retirement home. Dates vary throughout December. Pine Mountain Christmas comes to Victoria Bryant State Park on December 10. The day includes photos with Santa, holiday crafts, hot chocolate, a movie, caroling and hayride. Royston
Fort McAllister State Park and Civil War Museum
Just south of Savannah, Fort McAllister State Park is a beautiful spot for a winter getaway. Campsites and cottages are surrounded by salt marsh and Spanish moss, and the Ogeechee River offers great fishing and boating. Guests can enjoy birding, geocaching, picnicking and exploring the Civil War museum. On December 10, join reenactors for the 158th Annual Winter Muster to see infantry demonstrations, cannon firings and blacksmithing.
Welcome the New Year with "First Day Hikes"
On New Year's Day, park rangers across the country are inviting Americans to start 2023 with inspiring First Day Hikes. In Georgia's State Parks and Historic Sites, more than 40 guided treks will encourage friends and families to connect with nature and each other.
