Celebrate Old-Fashioned Holidays
If Christmas commercialism leaves you feeling "bah-humbug," plan an outing to one of Georgia's State Parks or Historic Sites. Throughout December, dozens of parks will host oldfashioned holiday celebrations that will remind you of yesteryear. Choose from events such as hayrides, candlelit tours, crafts, train rides and concerts. And remember, state parks will be open on Christmas and New Year's Day for you to enjoy with family and friends. (Historic sites will be closed these holidays.) Southern Living
We were thrilled to see Wormsloe Historic Site on the cover of Southern Living 50 Years anniversary publication. Established in 1733, colonial Wormsloe is home to the oldest tabby ruins in Savannah. Today, the low-country attraction is best known for its scenic arch entry, live-oak drive and frequent events. Open Tuesday - Sunday, 9 a.m. 5 p.m.
Group Gatherings
Family reunions, birthday parties and company retreats are just some of the group outings we can help you host in 2016. Our parks have enclosed shelters, open-air picnic shelters, meeting rooms and group camps available for rent. Hotel-style lodges offer conference space, golf courses and team-building activities. Full-Moon Suspension Bridge Hike
Saturday, January 23, 6-8 p.m.
Enjoy a one-mile hike that takes you down the gorge stairs, across a suspension bridge high above the river, and back up to the rim all under the full moon. Register in advance. $5 plus $5 parking. 706-754-7981.
