Weekly Report January 20 January 26, 2019
This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Division.

Region I- Acworth (Northwest)
CARROLL COUNTY On January 20th, Corporal Chad Cox was patrolling the county for waterfowl hunters. He located eleven hunters and issue a citation for hunting without a license and hunting without a Georgia Migratory Waterfowl license. He also issued a warning to a hunter who did not have a Federal Duck Stamp.
Region II- Gainesville (Northeast)
STEPHENS COUNTY On January 21, Game Warden Jonathan Segars was patrolling Lake Russell WMA. While on patrol, GW Segars made contact with an individual who possessed a load rifle in his vehicle. The individual was issued a citation for possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle on WMA.
On January 22, Game Warden Jonathan Segars interviewed an individual about a deer that was take illegally. During the interview, the individual admitted to shooting a buck on Chattahoochee National Forest. The buck was killed three days after deer hunting season had closed on the area. The individual was issued a citation and a skull mount was collected as evidence.
HART COUNTY On January 23, Corporal Craig Fulghum responded to a complaint of subjects trespassing while rabbit hunting with beagles. Cpl. Fulghum investigated the complaint and determined that the hunters had permission to be on the property. Cpl. Fulghum checked hunting licenses and it was determined that one subject was hunting rabbits without a hunting license. A citation was issued for hunting without a license.
GWINNETT COUNTY On January 26th, Game Wardens Chris Kernahan and Jeffery Turner completed an illegal dumping investigation. The investigation concerned a subject who dumped bags full of trash near the Apalachee River along the Barrow/Gwinnett county line. The Game Wardens determined who the responsible subject was, and proceeded to his residence to confront him. Once presented with the evidence, the subject admitted he dumped the trash the previous weekend on his way home from work. The Game Wardens addressed the issue, and the subject advised that he would clean up the trash later that date.
BARROW COUNTY On January 27th, Game Wardens Kernahan and Turner patrolled for duck hunting activity near the Mulberry River. While they patrolled, the Game Wardens encountered a large amount of trash that was dumped in the middle of a county road, which created a significant traffic hazard. The Game Wardens initiated an investigation, determined who the responsible subject was, and proceeded to his residence to confront him. Once presented with the evidence, the subject admitted to dumping the trash earlier that morning on his way to town. The Game Wardens addressed the issue, and the subject advised that he would clean up the trash later that afternoon.
HABERSHAM COUNTY On January 26th, Sgt. Steve Seitz and GWFC Joe Hill investigated three possible tagging violations that occurred during the 2018-19 deer season in Habersham County. Three subjects were interviewed for tagging an antlerless deer on USFS property on days it was not legal to kill an antlerless deer on USFS property. One subject recorded his harvest wrong and two subjects received a citation for killing an antlerless deer.
Region III- Thomson (East Central)

Region IV- Macon (West Central)
BUTTS COUNTY On January 26th Game Warden Niki Spencer was patrolling the Tussahaw Creek area when she located four individuals hunting waterfowl after hours. The hunters were cited for the violations and the illegally taken ducks were confiscated and given to a local family.
Region V- Albany (Southwest)
GRADY COUNTY On January 7th, Game Wardens Steve Thomas and Taylor Brown received a call about a subject who had shot a deer from the road. On January 21st, the Wardens were able to find the subject's vehicle from a description the complainant gave them. The Wardens made contact with the subject at his residence and through the course of interviews the subject was charged with hunting from a public road and hunting without permission.
Region VI- Metter (Southeast)
IRWIN COUNTY On January 21st, Ranger First Class (RFC) Rodney Horne, RFC Allen Mills, and Corporal John Stokes patrolled the Alapaha River Wildlife Management Area for persons disturbing Gopher Tortoise dens while looking for Rattlesnakes and Eastern Indigo snakes. One person was apprehended and a violation for disturbing wildlife was documented.
On January 22nd, Corporal Dan Stiles and Game Warden John Kennedy patrolled the Alapaha River Wildlife Management Area. One person was checked for license compliance on the property. One violation was documented for target practicing in an unauthorized area on a Wildlife Management Area.
WHEELER COUNTY On January 25th, Ranger First Class (RFC) Rodney Horne was on patrol listening for a duck roost shoot. RFC Horne investigated gunshots located near a Cypress Pond on Alligator Creek Wildlife Management area. One person was found to be hunting ducks after legal hours. A violation for hunting waterfowl after legal hours was documented.
WILCOX COUNTY On January 26th Corporal John A. Stokes patrolled for duck hunting activity. Two duck shoots were checked, with six hunters in total. Two violations were documented for hunting waterfowl without a Federal Waterfowl Stamp.
LAURENS COUNTY On January 20th, Corporal Dan Stiles and Game Warden John Kennedy patrolled the River Bend Wildlife Management Area for hunting activity. Eight waterfowl hunters were checked for license compliance. Two violations were documented for possession/transporting a loaded firearm in a vehicle on a Wildlife Management Area.
Region VII- Brunswick (Coastal)
