Weekly Report August 5 August 11, 2018
This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Division.

Region I- Acworth (Northwest)
FULTON COUNTY On Aug 7th, Game Wardens Corporals Shawn Elmore, Corporal Chad Cox, and Sergeant Eric Brown attended the National Night Out at the Sandy Springs New City Hall. Local citizens were able to walk around and see different public safety equipment. Several agencies were represented such as FBI, GBI, ATF, GSP, several local police and fire agencies. Cpl. Elmore had his work section's specialized patrol boat, the SJX. The SJX is designed to run in very shallow water in the rivers of northwest Georgia. The kids and many adults enjoyed seeing this patrol boat.

FLOYD COUNTY On Aug 11th, Cpl. Shawn Elmore responded to the beach area of Rocky Mountain PFA in reference to several people drinking alcohol in the day use area. Alcohol is prohibited anywhere on Rocky Mountain PFA. CPL Elmore observed the group from a distance for a period of time confirming the information he had received. There were three people drinking alcohol and they found to be in possession of Corona and Modelo beer. All were issued citations for illegal consumption of alcohol on PFA. FANNIN COUNTY On August 10th, Cpl. Cody Jones wrapped up a hunting without permission investigation. Cpl. Jones conferred with the previous Fannin County Game Warden, Sgt. Brian Keener, who was able to identify one of two suspects caught on surveillance cameras hunting without permission. Cpl. Jones determined that one of the suspects killed a gobbler turkey on April 18. The other suspect had be caught on camera several other times on this same property dating back to 2015. That suspect had also been given a warning for hunting deer without permission this past deer season in a nearby county. Two citations and two warnings were issued for hunting without permission on three different occasions. One turkey beard was seized.

Region II- Gainesville (Northeast)
BARROW COUNTY On February 5th, GWFC Chris Kernahan completed an investigation that concerned the commercial dumping of egregious litter. GWFC Kernahan interviewed the suspect, and found them to be the responsible party. The violation was addressed.
FRANKLIN COUNTY On March 17th, Sgt. Derek Dillard and Cpl. Craig Fulghum assisted the Georgia State Patrol with a roadblock set up near Tugaloo State Park. During the course of approximately 2 hours the roadblock netted 13 violations which also resulted with 2 arrest. The violations consisted of 2 counts of driving under the influence, 3 counts of child endangerment, 1 count of open container of alcohol and 1 count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than an ounce. There were multiple counts of driving without a license or driving while license was suspended also documented during the check.
Region III- Thomson (East Central)
MORGAN COUNTY On August 3rd, SGT Garthright and CPL Allen responded to a complaint at Hard Labor Creek State Park. During an investigation based on this complaint, two subjects were arrested for the violations of possession of a schedule two drug (Meth), misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
LAKE OCONEE On August 3-5th, SGT Garthright, CPL Allen, CPL Worth, and Game Warden Schay, patrolled Lake Oconee for boating activity. During these patrols, multiple violations of allowing an underage child to ride in a moving vessel without wearing a PFD, towing without an observer onboard, operating a PWC within 100' of an object in the water above idle speed, failure to obey regulatory marker, operating a vessel with improper lights, fishing without a license, and operating a vessel with insufficient PFDs were documented.

CLARKE COUNTY On August 8th GWFC Tim Butler patrolled the county for fishing and boating activity. Violations of fishing without license were addressed during the patrol.
Region IV- Macon (West Central)
No activity to report.
Region V- Albany (Southwest)
CLAY COUNTY On August 11th, Game Wardens Scott Carroll and Quinn Fogle arrested two individuals for operating under the influence of alcohol. The two subjects, both from Alabama, were boating on Lake Walter F. George. EARLY COUNTY On August 12th, Game Wardens Scott Carroll and Quinn Fogle arrested two individuals for operating under the influence of alcohol on the Chattahoochee River. The two subjects arrested were from Alabama and were operating their vessels in Georgia waters. DECATUR COUNTY On August 5th, Cpl. Tony Cox worked an Illegal alligator hunting complaint on Lake Seminole. The subjects were apprehended checking baited hooks and during the investigation parts of an illegally killed alligator were located at their residence. The subjects were charged with hunting alligators out of season, illegal methods, and possession of parts of alligator.
Region VI- Metter (Southeast)
DODGE COUNTY On August 5th, Game Warden Allen Mills and Game Warden Chris Thompson conducted a vessel patrol on the Ocmulgee River. Five vessels were inspected for safety equipment. One violation for operating a vessel without a throwable device was documented.
Game Warden Thompson patrolling the Ocmulgee River. WARE COUNTY On August 5th, Corporal Mark Pool patrolled several boat landings along the Satilla River. A violation for operating a vessel above idle speed within 100' of an object was documented.

On August 11th, Game Warden First Class Sam Williams patrolled the Jamestown Boat Landing on the Satilla River. Violations for operating a PWC within 100 feet of an object and operating a PWC without wearing a PFD were documented.
PIERCE COUNTY On August 11th, Game Warden First Class Judd Sears and Sam Williams patrolled several boat landings along the Satilla River throughout Pierce County. While at FFA Boat Landing. A violation for operating vessel without registration numbers displayed was documented.
A short time later, the officers observed four subjects paddle up to the landing in kayaks. The officers inspected the kayaks for the required personal flotation devices (PFD's) and discovered that none of the kayaks contained PFD's. The violation of operating vessel without PFD's was documented on each subject.
TREUTLEN COUNTY On August 10th, GWFC Randell Meeks completed an investigation into a complaint about regarding the burning of truck tires. A violation of unlawful burning of egregious litter 1st offense (greater than 500 lbs/100 cu ft) was documented
EVANS COUNTY On August 11th Game Warden Clint Jarriel patrolled the Public Fishing Area for violations. Citations were issued for entering WRD lands without a lands pass and over the limit of fish.
TOOMBS COUNTY On August 11th Game Warden First Class Bobby Sanders documented a violation for littering and operating a vessel without lights during hours of darkness on the Altamaha River.
JENKINS COUNTY On August 11th, Cpl. Wilcox patrolled Magnolia Springs State Park. While patrolling the park, Cpl. Wilcox checked two people fishing from the shoreline. Two violations for fishing without a license was documented. One of the violators had a bench warrant for his arrest. Cpl. Wilcox transported him to the Jenkins County Jail.
SCREVEN COUNTY On August 11th Corporal Shaymus McNeely conducted a patrol of Tuckahoe WMA's Savannah River landings and lakes. Numerous boats and fisherman were checked as well as hunters scouting for alligator season.
