Weekly Report March 25 March 31, 2018
This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Division.
Region I- Acworth (Northwest)
No activity to report.
Region II- Gainesville (Northeast)
No activity to report.
Region III- Thomson (East Central)
NEWTON COUNTY On March 28th, Game Warden Dan Schay and Cadet John Rhodes patrolled Newton County for fishing activity. A violation of fishing without a license was documented.
On March 29th, Game Warden Dan Schay and Cadet John Rhodes patrolled Newton County for hunting and fishing activity. Violations for unlawful enticement of game and fishing without a license were documented.
WALTON COUNTY On March 26th, Game Warden Jason Harrison Patrolled Walton County for Turkey Hunting Activity. A Violation for Hunting Big Game Over Bait (Turkey) was documented.
On March 31st, Game Warden Jason Harrison worked a fishing without permission complaint on Brisco Reservoir in Walton County. Violations for fishing without permission were documented.
On April 2nd, Game Warden Jason Harrison patrolled Hard Labor Creek Reservoir boat ramp. Violations for fishing without a license and operating a vessel without registration were documented.
HANCOCK COUNTY On March 30th, Cpl. David Allen patrolled Hancock County for fishing activity. A violation for not wearing PFD in a hazardous area was documented.
GREENE COUNTY On March 30th, CPL. David Allen patrolled Greene County for fishing activity. A violation for fishing without a license was documented.
Region IV- Macon (West Central)
HOUSTON COUNTY On March 28th Corporal Robert Stilwell investigated a possible illegal turkey kill. Cpl. Stilwell met with a suspect who stated to have killed a gobbler in another county but it was determined the gobbler had been killed near the suspect's house in Houston County. The gobbler was confiscated because the suspect did not possess hunting licenses.
JONES COUNTY On the afternoon of March 31st Game Warden Jon Segars and Corporal Bubba Stanford responded to a road hunting complaint near Macon. The officers were able to locate a shotgun hull as well as turkey feathers near the roadway. Information provided by a witness led the officers to a suspect. The officers were able to locate two individuals who were involved with the illegal hunting activity. Both individuals received citations for hunting from a public road and hunting from a vehicle.
Region V- Albany (Southwest)
BROOKS COUNTY On March 25th, Game Wardens Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey, Sgt. David Ruddell, and Capt. Rick Sellars checked two Florida residents who had harvested a gobbler. The officers discovered neither hunter had a hunting license. The two subjects were charged with non-resident hunting without a license and non-resident hunting without a big game license. One of the subjects was also warned for hunting with an unplugged shotgun and the turkey was confiscated.
On March 31st, Cpl. Tommy Daughtrey checked a baited turkey blind where he had located evidence of a turkey having been harvested on opening weekend. On this morning, the officer located two subjects at the baited blind with another harvested turkey. These two were charged for hunting big game over bait and the turkey was confiscated. There is an ongoing investigation into the turkey killed opening morning.
THOMAS COUTNY On the morning of March 29th, Sgt. David Ruddell located a vehicle parked near a baited area. The officer set up surveillance and intercepted the hunter as he exited the bait. The subject was charged for hunting big game over bait.
Region VI- Metter (Southeast)
TATTNALL COUNTY On March 31st Game Warden Clint Jarriel patrolled Big Hammock WMA for hunting, fishing, and shooting activity. In this effort many people were checked with two citations written for using the area without obtaining a Georgia Lands Pass.
TREUTLEN COUNTY On March 31st, Ranger Randell Meeks was patrolling the Gillis Springs and Sumner Beach area for hunting activity. Several contacts were made with hunters. One violation of hunting without a license and one violation of hunting without a big game license were documented.
DODGE COUNTY On March 29th, Game Warden Allen Mills conducted a patrol at the Dodge County Public Fishing Area. Five anglers were checked for license and creel compliance. One violation for fishing without a license was documented.
BEN HILL COUNTY On March 25th, Corporal John A Stokes patrolled for turkey hunting activity. Corporal Stokes was checking a location that was baited and located two hunters hunting turkeys over bait. The violators were each charged for hunting big game (turkey) over bait.
Region VII- Brunswick (Coastal)
