Weekly Report March 12 March 18, 2017
This report is a broad sampling of events that have taken place in the past week, but does not include all actions taken by the Law Enforcement Division.

Region I- Acworth (Northwest)

Region II- Gainesville (Northeast)
No activity to report.
Region III- Thomson (East Central)
WILKES COUNTY On March 18th Cpl. Mark Patterson concluded an environmental investigation that began in February when Georgia Forestry Commission investigators were called to a wild fire that had originated at a hunt camp. Two subjects were charged with unlawful burning of egregious litter after setting fire to two abandoned campers.

Region V- Albany (Southwest)

Region VI- Metter (Southeast)
JEFF DAVIS COUNTY On March 18th, RFC Bobby Sanders was patrolling boat landings on the Altamaha River. While at the Highway 221 Landing he witnessed a vessel operating above idle speed while within 100' of an object and the shore. The operator was stopped and the violation documented.
TATTNALL COUNTY On March 18th, Corporal Chase Altman and Ranger Cameron Dyal were patrolling Big Hammock WMA. One violation for not having a GORP pass and one violation for insufficient life jackets was documented.
TOOMBS COUNTY On March 18th, RFC Bobby Sanders was patrolling the boat landing at Old Dead River along the Altamaha River when a vessel was encountered that was operating without any life jackets on board. The violation was documented.
DODGE COUNTY On March 17th, Corporal Dan Stiles and Game Wardens Allen Mills and Rodney Horne assisted the Dodge County Sheriff's Department with a road check. Other agencies assisting were Department of Community Supervision, Drug Task Force, and Georgia State Patrol. Several arrest were made including driving on a suspended license, outstanding warrants, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and other traffic violations.

On March 18th, Game Wardens Allen Mills and Lamar Burns attended the annual Hunter Education seminar and banquet. Warden Mills was presented with the Hunter Education Ranger of the year award for 2016.

LOWNDES COUNTY On March 4th, Sergeant Patrick Dupree, Corporal Mark Pool and Ranger First Class Daniel North assisted with the annual Lowndes Youth Turkey Day which was held at Marco's Pizza in Valdosta. Students were taught turkey biology, hunting tactics, and firearm safety. After Lunch, the students were taken outside where they were familiarized with shooting shotguns and had some target practice.
On March 17th, students met again for dinner at Christ's Fellowship Church in Valdosta where firearm safety was taught again by Sergeant Patrick Dupree and Ranger First Class Daniel North. Students had the privilege to hear World Famous Turkey Call maker Toney Reynolds speak about his life and turkey calls. Afterwards, students were paired up with guides who would take them hunting the next morning.
On March 18th, Sergeant Patrick Dupree and Ranger First Class Daniel North among several others guided about 14 youth individually with their guardian in hunts in the area. Five of the students were successful in harvesting a turkey. Students and guides met up at Advanced Disposal for lunch where the turkeys were measured and weighed. The student with the highest score won a shotgun provided by T3 Outdoors. All of the students once again heard Tony Reynolds speak again about turkey calling, and hunting and received a signed box call.

Region VII- Brunswick (Coastal)
GLYNN & CAMDEN COUNTIES From March 12th - March 15th, Corporal Kate Hargrove, Corporal Mike Wilcox and Ranger First Class Kiel
Toney attended training in Chatham County for the International Association of Marine Investigators. On March 16th & 17th, Corporal Kate Hargrove patrolled Glynn and Camden County waters for recreational
and commercial fishing and boating activity.
