If you haven't visited HPD's Facebook page lately, you may be missing out on preservation news from around the state. Nearly every day, we share news articles related to HPD programs and services as well as features about our partners' activities. Be sure to "Like" HPD's Facebook page.
The National Park Service cultural resources programs have created a collaborative Facebook page for Certified Local Governments, Technical Preservation Services, Historic Preservation Grants, Heritage Education, and National Heritage Areas. Each Monday, CLGs will be the focus. Megan Brown, CLG Program, is soliciting for good local historic preservation projects to feature.
GNAHRGIS update #3

City of Chickamauga RFP now available
The City of Chickamauga is seeking proposals from qualified consultants to conduct a phase 1 historic resources survey of the city, funded by a FFY 2012 HPF/CLG grant. The Request for Proposals may be viewed on the city's website. Proposals must be submitted by 3 p.m. July 11, 2012. For more information, please contact James Powell at 706375-3177.

Recent HPD activities
Staff have completed cataloging of artifacts at Hardman Farm Historic Site (right).
Staff will receive recently conserved artifacts from Etowah Mounds and a Columbus Depot shell jacket from the Atkins Collection at the Jefferson Davis Memorial Historic Site. An officer's frock coat from the Atkins Collection has been sent for conservation.
Staff recently installed a climate control datalogger in the CCC museum at Vogel State Park.
June 5-7 - Staff and trained volunteers conducted underwater dive operations and archaeological site mapping on the Loud & Company diving-bell support vessel which sank under mysterious circumstances in the Chestatee River, Lumpkin County in 1875.
June 5-7 - House Appropriations Chairman Terry England, Game, Fish and Parks Chairman Jon Burns joined Commissioner Williams and Director Crass for a familiarization tour of Ossabaw Island's cultural resources.
June 13 - Staff held their annual state stewardship meeting with the University of Georgia to assess progress on the rehabilitation of the U.S. Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, which will become a new medical campus.

IMLS grant guidelines available for public comment
The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is seeking public comments on the draft guidelines for the FY 2013 Museums for America and National Leadership Grants for Museums programs. The guidelines for these programs have been revised to align with the IMLS Strategic Plan. The comment period will end on Friday, July 6, 2012. Please send comments to comments@imls.gov. Final guidelines will be posted no later than October 15, 2012 .

The National Housing & Rehabilitation Association seeks nominations for the J. Timothy Anderson Awards for Excellence in Historic Rehabilitation, which honor outstanding rehabilitation and preservation projects based on overall design and quality, interpretation and respect of historic elements, impact on the community, and financial and market success. The deadline is July 20, 2012. The application and instructions are available online.
