ACHP guidance developing PAs now available
The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation has prepared guidance to assist federal agencies and their preservation partners in developing prototype programmatic agreements (PAs). Such agreements can expedite the review of routine activities with limited potential to affect historic properties, provide for use of a template agreement that can be readily executed, and allow for execution of subsequent agreements without formal Advisory Council involvement.
NTHP now accepting award nominations
The National Trust is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Richard H. Driehaus National Preservation Awards. You are invited to nominate a deserving individual, organization, agency, or project. The

Recent HPD staff activities
February 25-27 - Staff conducted 3D laser scanning at multiple shoreline and inter-tidal archaeological sites on Cumberland Island in collaboration with Georgia Southern University's Department of Geology and Geography and the National Park Service.
February 29 - Staff visited the Cuthbert Downtown Streetscape project area to see the progress on this revitalization of historic Cuthbert Square.
Staff were briefed on the rehabilitation of a CCCconstructed building for a new Camp Lawton museum and archaeology lab within Magnolia Springs State Park.
Staff conducted an archaeological field survey at Cloudland Canyon State Park. Park staff are creating several miles of multi-purpose and single-track bike trails to connect the park to nearby Lula Lake Conservation land.

NPI scholarships available for 2012 seminars
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded the National Preservation Institute (NPI) a two-year matching grant through June 2013. The grant will enable NPI to increase the number of scholarships awarded for specific NPI seminars. Scholarships cover the cost of tuition and will benefit underserved groups in targeted cultural resource management areas such as archaeological curation, conservation, and collections management; cemetery preservation; Native American cultural property law; and historic property management. NPI must receive scholarship applications at least six weeks prior to the seminar date.
Position available in Georgia
Historian (Supervisory) - This position is located in the Cultural Resources Division (CRD), National Park Service (NPS), Southeast Regional Office (SERO), Atlanta, GA. The incumbent serves as Chief of the SERO History Branch and SER Regional Historian. The incumbent provides expert leadership and quality assurance to cultural resource programs, supervises five to seven employees, and serves as advisor to the Chief of Cultural Resources and Deputy Regional Director for the Region's history program. Applications due March 12, 2012.
