Register now for the Sustainability and Southern Historic Preservation Conference!

Join us in Atlanta October 16-18 for the Sustainability & Southern Historic Preservation Conference, co-sponsored by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Green Building Council, Georgia Chapter in partnership with Historic Preservation Division. HPD's contact is Sustainability Coordinator Roy Edwards - 404-4638434. Early registration ends September 4 only $30 for students, $69 for Public Sector, and $89 for Private Sector.
Don't miss the unique opportunity to be part of the first Southern Green and Historic Preservation Conference in Atlanta that will discuss historic communities and sustainability needs in terms of policy, practice, education and implementation. Plus tour rehabilitated properties that utilized historic preservation and other sustainable methods.
2013 Preservation Awards call for entries
Each year, The Georgia Trust recognizes significant contributions to the preservation of Georgia's historic resources. Awards are presented on the basis of the contributions of the person or project to the community and/or state and on compliance to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The awards are open to projects completed within the last three years. The Georgia Trust is now accepting nominations for the following: Restoration, Rehabilitation, Stewardship and Preservation Service. Visit their website for more information on each category and to download an application. The postmark deadline is October 22, 2012.
World Heritage Video Challenge
To help mark the 40th Anniversary of the World Heritage Convention, the National Park Service, HISTORY, and the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO are holding a World Heritage Video Challenge. Simply film a short video (no more than 2 minutes) to explain why you think a particular U.S. World Heritage site is important to the world. Upload your video to YouTube before October 15, 2012 and be sure to include the hashtag #USWorldHeritage in the title. Selected video submissions may be chosen for broadcasting on the HISTORY network as part of their focus on World Heritage.
