NTHP announces 2011 Most Endangered List
The National Trust for Historic Preservation has announced their 2011 list of 11 Most Endangered Historic Places in America. No specfic Georgia sites are on the list, however a broad national category could include Georgia resources. "Sites Imperiled by State Actions, U.S. In state legislatures across the country, cuts to preservation funding and incentives imperil hundreds of thousands of historic places. If key sources of funding and incentives are lost, these irreplaceable sites may suffer untold consequences."

Three Georgia organizations: Friends of Camp McDonald Park in Kennesaw; Historic Oakland Foundation in Atlanta; and Historic Savannah Foundation, are among the finalists for the National Trust for Historic Preservation's This Place Matters Community Challenge. The three organizations that receive the most votes will win $25,000, $10,000 and $5,000 to benefit their local communities. You may vote once throughout the Challenge, and voting ends on June 30.
NPS announces new TPS Chief
The National Park Service has named Brian D. Goeken as Chief of the Technical Preservation Services office. He will manage a federal tax credit program that leverages $4 billion a year in private investment in historic preservation. Goeken recently served as Deputy Commissioner of the City of Chicago's Department of Zoning and Land Use Planning and oversaw the city's Historic Preservation

Division.
The Federal Tax Incentives for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings Program is the country's largest, most successful, and most cost-effective community revitalization program. It is an economic stimulus that encourages private investment, generates jobs, and preserves historic structures. Last year, the program created more than 41,000 jobs, an average of 47 per project. The TPS Office also provides guidance on the care of historical structures, maintains the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation, and the Illustrated Guidelines on Sustainability for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings.
AASLH offers annual meeting scholarships
The AASLH Small Museums Committee offers five Small Museum Scholarships of $500 each to AASLH members who are full-time, parttime, paid, or volunteer employees of small museums. The deadline for applications is June 30. The Douglas Evelyn Scholarship for Minority Professionals supports professional development and increases culturally diverse participation at the AASLH annual meeting and in all of the association's programs. Applications are due in the AASLH office by July 1. The AASLH annual meeting will be held in Richmond, Virginia , July 14-17, 2011.
