Plan 2007-2011: Building a Preservation Ethic.
HPD has begun the process of updating the state historic preservation plan. The plan establishes the priorities and policies to guide the Division's preservation efforts for the next five years, 2012-2017. We need your input. Here are two ways you can get involved:
1. Take our online survey.
2. Participate in a public input meeting. During the next few months, HPD will be partnering with Georgia's regional commissions and their historic preservation advisory committees to host community meetings. The next meeting will take place on Novemberber 18. Find the full schedule and location details on our website.
At these meetings we will solicit public input to help set statewide goals and priorities and develop a plan that will be effective and useful to the Division, the preservation community and stakeholders who use the Division's services. The meetings will provide information about HPD's programs and services as well as the historic preservation planning process and will allow for public input on various preservation issues.
Save the Date for the 2011 GMCA Conference
The 2011 annual Georgia Muncipal Cemetery Association, co-sponsored with the Historic Preservation Division, will hold its annual statewide conference June 21-June 24 in Savannah. The agenda also will include sessions on a wide-range of religious burial customs ranging from Jewish to Buddhist to Russian Orthodox, and U. S. military funeral protocol.
