HPD's Ken Thomas to receive Georgia AIA Bronze Medal
Retired HPD historian, Ken Thomas, will be awarded the Georgia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects "Bronze Medal" for his lifetime accomplishments in documenting the history of the architectural profession in Georgia--specifically, the "Architects and Builders in Georgia" collection in our office. HPD director Ray Luce and Survey & Register unit manager, Richard Cloues, put together the nomination materials in conjunction with Atlanta-based architects Jack Pyburn and Susan Turner.
As a Georgia AIA chapter member, Susan made the official nomination. In her nomination letter she cited her experience as a Georgia National Register Review Board member and how Ken was always prepared to talk about the historic architects and builders associated with properties being nominated to the National Register.
Congratulations Ken!
