HPD position available
HPD is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Preservation Architect. Major responsibilities include review of federal and state preservation tax incentives applications, Section 106 projects, and federal and state preservation grant projects to insure conformation with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. Wanted: A Few Good Applications!
Application packets for the next cycle of federal grants earmarked for certified local governments interested in completing survey and planning projects are now available on HPD's website at www.gashpo.org. Application packets also will be mailed this week to CLG contacts throughout the state.
Eligible activities include surveys, National Register nominations, design guidelines, brochures, website development, heritage education materials, workshops, etc. Predevelopment applications for site-specific projects to conduct historic structure reports, preservation plans, or architectural drawings and specifications are available by request or can be printed from the HPD website.
The postmark deadline is February 1, 2008, and grant awards will be announced in March 2008. Projects may begin in May 2008 and must be completed by August 15, 2008.

Scholarships
Scholarships for AASLH Workshops - http://www.aaslh.org/workshop.htm. The application deadline is January 15.
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation is now accepting entries for the B. Phinizy Spalding and Hubert B. Owens Scholarships and J. Neel Reid Prize.
J. Neel Reid - Honoring the legacy of Neel Reid, this is awarded annually to an architecture student, an architect intern or a recently registered architect to study architecture anywhere in the world
B. Phinizy Spalding and Hubert B. Owens Scholarships Each year, the Trust awards two $1,000 scholarships to encourage the study of historic preservation and related fields.
