HPD is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Preservation Architect. Major responsibilities include review of federal and state preservation tax incentives applications, Section 106 projects, and federal and state preservation grant projects to insure conformance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. 134 tag orders needed to reach our goal!
As you travel on the highways this holiday weekend, you may notice the tags on various cars. Next year at this time, we anticipate your seeing preservation license tags. To make this possible, 134 tags still need to be ordered. We need 1,000 orders and currently have 866. Please continue to spread the word about the impact these tags could have on preserving historic places across the state. Have a safe and relaxing holiday! Register now for Preservation 101 - September 20 in Atlanta

Who should attend? Anyone who is new to historic preservation in Georgia and wants to learn about services and programs provided by the state historic preservation office (Historic Preservation Division) and the state nonprofit preservation organization (The Georgia Trust) and has not attended a previous Preservation 101 orientation.

Savannah is Georgia's newest Preserve America community
Congratulations to Savannah for being designated a Preserve America community on July 31, 2007. Communities applying for the Preserve America designation must demonstrate use of historic assets for economic development and community revitalization and how they encourage people to experience and appreciate local historic resources through education and heritage tourism programs. 2007 CDBG and CHIP Application Awards
The Department of Community Affairs received 152 Annual Competition applications for FY 2007 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and 31 applications for Community HOME Investment Program (CHIP) funds, including applications for the CHIP Revitalization set-aside. In connection with the CDBG and CHIP applications, seven communities received credit for their efforts at using state law and other public and private resources to revitalize areas in greatest need.

Charles Rowland Memorial Antique Seminars
The Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation and the Ware-Lyndon House Committee are proud to present, "An Exploration of American Antiques, Decorative Arts and Architecture of the 19th Century."
