New DVD Reveals Georgia's ancient Native American civilizations
LostWorlds.org, the Interactive Museum of the American Indian, has released a new DVD entitled Lost Worlds of Georgia that covers the past 4,000 years of Georgia's Native American history. The DVD covers the past 4,000 years of Georgia's Native American history by focusing on the six most important archaeological sites in the state: Sapelo Shell Rings, Rock Eagle & Rock Hawk, Fort Mountain, Kolomoki Mounds, Ocmulgee Mounds and Etowah Mounds. Preservation study abroad trip to Barcelona, Spain - January 17 deadline
The Master of Heritage Preservation program at Georgia State University is sponsoring a study abroad trip to Barcelona, Spain, May 12-29. The program is designed to deepen the students understanding of the history of Barcelona and the Catalonia region of Spain, its culture and how the city and region are working to preserve their historic cultural sites, parks and landscapes.
Preservation professionals, as well as students, are invited to register. The registration deadline is Tuesday, January 17. The fee is approximately $3,100. Contact Richard Laub at hisrel@langate.gsu.edu for more information.

Honoring the legacy of Neel Reid, this is awarded annually to an architecture student, an architect intern or a recently registered architect to study architecture anywhere in the world. Computer-created artwork allowed for preservation license plates design January 18 deadline
During the 2005 Legislative Session, the General Assembly authorized the creation of a special license plate to promote historic preservation efforts in Georgia. It is the intent that proceeds from the sale of these license plates will promote preservation projects through HPD's Georgia Heritage Grant program. HPD is now reissuing an "Invitation to Submit Artwork" for the design of these plates. Please go to HPD's website (www.gashpo.org) to see the formal announcement. Please note: the invitation has been revised to permit submissions of computer-created illustrations. The deadline for artwork to be received at HPD is Wednesday, January 18, 2006.
