HPD staff spread the word about preservation license plate to Atlanta neighborhoods and citizens
HPD staff, present and former, are helping spread information on the preservation license plate to groups and contacts outside the usual office parameters. Retired unit manager Carole Griffith partnered with the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation to set up an information booth with order forms, flyers and buttons for Peachtree Road Race spectators. Carole Moore attended a "Meet-the-New-Principal" gathering for historic Mary Lin Elementary School in her Candler Park/Lake Claire neighborhood, where she distributed order forms and buttons. Nearby, in adjacent National Register-listed Inman Park, Denise Messick attended her monthly neighborhood meeting and also distributed order forms and buttons. Helen Talley-McRae gave order forms and buttons to several of her real estate friends who market historic properties and who are interested in supporting historic preservation.
You, too, can help save Georgia's special places by helping us reach our goal of 1,000 orders; we are now up to 131. If you plan to attend a neighborhood meeting or social gathering, please consider wearing your license plate button and handing out order forms. For more information, contact grants coordinator Carole Moore at 404-463-8434 or email at carole_moore@dnr.state.ga.us. To view the plate and/or use the order form to reserve the plate, go to HPD's website at www.gashpo.org

Re-advertisement for removal of 10th Street Atlanta craftsman-bungalows
The Georgia Institute of Technology, on behalf of the Georgia State Board of Regents (the Owner), is accepting proposals for the purchase and relocation of two houses, located at 318 and 328 Tenth Street, Atlanta. Proposals must be
submitted on forms provided by the Owner that identify the requirements for purchase and removal of the houses from the Owner's property. Relocation and reconstruction of the houses to an appropriate site within the Home Park neighborhood, while preferable, is not a requirement for purchase.
Based on a historical survey of the two houses prepared in April of 2005, by Ray & Associates, the Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has determined that both houses are historically significant. Research indicates that these two homes were possibly designed by Leila Ross Wilburn--Georgia's first woman architect. Also--the houses are fine examples of the craftsman-bungalow style. The houses are architecturally intact with most original features still remaining.
Please contact Mike Patterson at (404) 385-0093, or E-mail mike.patterson@facilities.gatech.edu, to request a submittal form.
