Standards to be reconsidered by NPS advisory board committee
The National Park Service (NPS) has established a committee of the National Park System Advisory Board to consider the effectiveness of the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation that are used to guide the federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program. The committee is charged with developing recommendations for improving the tax credit program's administration and interpretation of the Standards.
The committee will meet on October 18-19, 2005, in Washington, DC, and on December 6-7, 2005, in San Francisco, California. Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program users and members of the historic preservation community are invited to submit comments for the Committee's consideration. Chickamauga Campaign Heritage Trail
Fifteen city and county governments in northwest Georgia and southeast Tennessee have joined with the Chattanooga Convention and Visitors Bureau to develop the Chickamauga Campaign Heritage Trail, which will note the sites traversed by the opposing forces before the September 1863 battle. While the trail is designed to promote heritage tourism, an underlying objective is to increase awareness of the sites and--through public awareness--increase support for their preservation. The group plans to print 100,000 brochures and install around 30 interpretive signs. www.chickamaugacampaign.net
