The Georgia Alliance of Preservation Commissions is pleased to announce that the Fall Historic Preservation Commission Training will be held November 19-20 in Cartersville! Volunteers work with TPL to preserve historic Hyde Farm
"Friends of Hyde Farm" is a volunteer group working with The Trust for Public Land (TPL) to preserve historic Hyde Farm. The farm buildings are from circa 1840 to 1950. Located in East Cobb along the Chattahoochee River, the 95 acres of land consists of forest, fields and several streams. The lands bordering Hyde Farm are either private residences or units of the National Park Service. For more information, visit their Web site at www.friendsofhydefarm.org.

Save America's Treasures awards $14.5 million in grants
The President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities (PCAH), National Park Service (NPS), National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) jointly announced the awarding of $14.5 million in federal Save America's Treasures (SAT) grants on October 11. With these funds, 60 organizations and agencies will act to conserve some of America's most significant cultural treasures, which illustrate, interpret, and embody the great events, ideas, and individuals that contribute to our nation's history and culture. Through the congressionally-appropriated SAT program, awards were made to 35 historic properties and sites and 25 nationally significant collections of artifacts, documents and artistic works.
Congratulations to the two Georgia projects that received grants: Andrew Low House, The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Georgia, Savannah and the Peabody Awards Collection, University of Georgia, Athens. Local hosts sought for Share Your Heritage Workshops
The National Trust's Heritage Tourism Program is seeking local hosts for four Share Your Heritage workshops in 2005. Share Your Heritage workshops are intensive planning workshops designed to bring a targeted group of diverse community representatives together to address key cultural heritage tourism challenges. The 2005 application form for potential local hosts can be at
