HPD and RDC staff news: Welcome, goodbye, good luck, we'll miss you!
Sylvia Cleveland, HPD's former information specialist and environmental review specialist left her position in April. Sylvia worked as an intern with the National Park Service through May, and completed her masters in historic preservation from Georgia State University. She was selected by the Jekyll Island Authority to participate in their summer internship program where she will have the opportunity to do hands-on preservation work on historic resources. We very much appreciate the wonderful work she accomplished while at HPD and wish her the best of luck in her future career plans.
Jeffrey L. Durbin, HPD's environmental review coordinator for over six years during the 1990s has recently been appointed as the new Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Liaison to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP). Jeff will serve as the principal point of contact for handling all HUD program and project review activities.
Mike Commisso has recently taken a position as Historic Preservation Planner for the South Georgia Regional Development Center in Valdosta. Mike has a Masters in Landscape architecture from the State University of New York's College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Landowner's Guide to Conservation Incentives
The NWNHS has revamped the popular guide, the Landowner's Guide to Conservation Incentives. This useful tool helps landowners find incentive programs for their property. The booklet has been expanded to 60 pages and includes a number of new programs. One highlight of the new version is a series of matrices that help landowners choose incentives by resource, primary benefit, or agency. DNR's Wildlife Resources Division has posted the pdf version on their Web site. Go to www.georgiawildlife.com and navigate to Nongame Animals and Plants then the Conservation Incentives section.
