Staff members from the Historic Preservation Division will hold a public information meeting concerning the proposed O'Neal School Neighborhood Historic District and the National Register of Historic Places. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at 7:00 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Cordele. The O'Neal School Neighborhood Historic District is located in a historic residential section of Cordele, south of the railroad. Eligible projects include: research in the humanities; archaeology projects that interpret and communicate the results of fieldwork; translations of works that provide insight into the history, literature, philosophy, and artistic achievements of other cultures; research that uses the knowledge, methods, and perspectives of the humanities to enhance understanding of science, technology, and medicine; and conferences on a topic of major importance in the humanities. The application deadline is November 3, 2003. For more information, go to http://www.fedgrants.gov/Applicants/NEH/OPUB/OPO/NEHGRANTS-062603-002/Grant.html.
