Preserve Our Landmark Places is the theme for this year's Georgia Historic Preservation Month. Georgians are encouraged to celebrate our diverse history and how historic preservation helps save our heritage. Events will take place in communities across the state. INTRODUCTION TO SECTION 106 WORKSHOP
Introduction to Section 106: A Workshop for Successful Project Review, will be presented by the Historic Preservation Division (HPD) and the South Georgia Regional Development Center (RDC) on Tuesday, May 13 in Tifton from 9:30 am 3:45 pm. What will be covered: overview of Section 106 process, historic resources, assessing National Register eligibility, assessing effects, documentation requirements for timely review, and case studies. NTHP'S EMERGING PRESERVATION LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP
The National Trust for Historic Preservation's (NTHP) Emerging Preservation Leaders program makes available limited scholarships to help preservationists from diverse, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds attend our National Preservation Conference. It provides an opportunity for community activists/leaders and college students to expand their preservation efforts. The application deadline is June 1, 2003.
