2003 HPF GRANT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE ONLINE
2003 Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) Grant applications (for Certified Local Governments only) are available online at www.gashpo.org under Services and Programs on the Grants page. HISTORIC LANDSCAPE AND GARDEN GRANT PROGRAM
The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. is accepting applications for its annual grants program aimed at promoting awareness of the state's historic landscapes and gardens. Nonprofits 7and local governments are eligible to apply for 50/50 matching grants. The maximum grant award is $3000. Eligible projects include restoration of design gardens and landscapes; historic landscape/garden restoration plans; and cultural landscape reports. All project work must promote responsible preservation practices. Funding priority is given to gardens and landscapes listed in the Georgia Register of Historic Places, either individually or as part of a historic district. Applications must be received at the State Headquarters of the Garden Club of Georgia by March 3, 2003. Awards will be announced in Augusta at the Garden Club's State Convention to be held April 22-24. For more information and an application, contact Mary Ann Eaddy at 404-651-5283.

NEW GEORGIA PLACE NAMES WEB SITE
The Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia announces the launching of a new Georgia Place Names Web site at www.cviog.uga.edu/Projects/gainfo/placenamesindex.htm. The site has over 10,000 Georgia place names arranged alphabetically and by county, along with links to a number of historical maps in the Historical Atlas of Georgia Counties Web site. Entries include: named towns, communities, railroad stations, post offices, and other places.

ACHP ANNOUNCES SECTION 106 CLASSES FOR 2003
The Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) has announced the 2003 schedule for its Introduction to Section 106 Review class. Participants learn the steps of the review process, how it is implemented under the Advisory Council's regulations, and the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In the southeast, the class will be offered in Orlando, March 5- 6.
